Winona-Ryder

Winona Laura Horowitz who is professionally known in the media as Winona Ryder was born in Winona Minnesota. It was her parents after the town in which she was raised. Her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder is a Jew. Ryder believes that her father is from a Jewish origin. She has two younger half-siblings, Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder moved together with her family to Mendocino County California at the age of seven. The family didn't have electricity. Television books would be the sole way to keep her busy and she started to become a keen reader. In 1983 when she was 12 years old, Ryder was accepted into the American Conservatory Theatre to take classes in acting. When she was 15, Ryder had a chance to play in Lucas her first big film. Ryder experienced bullying at the high school. Her acting career, she hoped to help, could have helped her. But sadly, it did not work out. She continued to pursue her dreams. In 1988, she got her big break in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder kept playing successful roles in various films. In 1993, she was nominated twice for Academy Awards. One of them for her role on the film The Age of Innocence.
